Understanding the Woolf Labs Master Sponsorship Agreement
A visual guide to the Nomination & Seats Model — what it is, who the parties are, and how they relate to each other.
What is Woolf Labs?
Woolf Labs is a research and technology organization dedicated to advancing the mission of Woolf University and other accredited Woolf Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), such as Woolf in Switzerland and Woolf in Malta. Woolf Labs provides the technology platform, academic support, and quality assurance infrastructure for the HEI.
The Agreement in One Sentence
Your organization signs a Master Sponsorship Agreement (MSA) with Woolf Labs. Woolf Labs does not grant degrees. Under that agreement, Woolf Labs nominates your organization as a sponsor to an accredited Woolf Higher Education Institution (HEI), which then creates a new college that your organization sponsors. The Woolf HEI grants degrees. Students enroll in that college and receive accredited degrees.
Relationship Structure
Rights & Responsibilities of a Sponsor
As a Sponsor, you are the guarantor of the college's financial operations. In return, you have the right to propose the college's name, logo, dean, faculty, and other staff members, as well as to recruit and propose students to the college. The college must meet all academic requirements set by the HEI's central administration, but its academic freedom allows it to be aligned with the focus area of the Sponsor.
Misconceptions vs. Reality
This is the part most sponsors find confusing. Here's a clear breakdown:
✗ Your legal entity is NOT
- ✕Becoming a Higher Education Institution yourself
- ✕Becoming a college of an existing HEI
- ✕Receiving your own accreditation
- ✕In a direct contractual relationship with the HEI
- ✕Granting degrees in your own name
✓ You ARE
- ✓In a contractual relationship with Woolf Labs
- ✓Being nominated by Woolf Labs to an HEI
- ✓Sponsoring a new college within that HEI
- ✓Purchasing seat licenses from Woolf Labs
The Process
Sign the MSA
Sponsor enters into a Master Sponsorship Agreement with Woolf Labs.
Nomination
Woolf Labs nominates the Sponsor to one or more of its accredited HEI partners.
College Created
The HEI establishes a new college, sponsored by the Sponsor, as an integral part of the institution.
Seats & Enrollment
The Sponsor purchases technology seat licenses from Woolf Labs. These provide the HEI with technology for compliance reporting.
How You Pay Woolf Labs
Woolf Labs provides the technology platform that supports the day-to-day operations of the college — including tools for enrollment processing, student records, and program administration. Pricing is based on seat licenses: each seat covers one student's use of the platform for the duration of their enrollment in an accredited program at the college. You pay for the capacity used.
Technology Services
One seat = one student's access to the Woolf Labs platform.
Scalable
Add more seats as the program grows. Volume pricing tiers may apply.
Accredited Outcomes
Students receive degrees from the HEI — a fully accredited institution — supported by the platform for compliance reporting.
Glossary
What to Remember
The MSA is between you and Woolf Labs. Woolf Labs handles the relationship with the HEI and the nomination process on your behalf.
The college is a new unit created inside the HEI. It is part of the HEI's academic structure. Your role is as the sponsor, not the institution itself.
All academic awards come from the accredited HEI. The college is the vehicle through which students access those awards.
